Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium onions (sliced)
  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 Tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
  • 3/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp lime juice (or lemon juice)
  • 1 green hot chili pepper (finely chopped)
  • 1 Tbsp parsley (or cilantro, chopped)
  • 3 Tbsp oil (for frying; coconut recommended)

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions thinly using a sharp knife or mandoline.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, nutritional yeast, cumin, salt, turmeric, water, lime juice, chopped chili pepper, and parsley. Whisk until the batter is medium-thick.
  3. Fold in the sliced onions until fully coated.
